SUMMARY:Castlemaine Press: In My Backyard
DESCRIPTION:In My Backyard:  \n\n\n\n7th Annual International Print Exchange \n\n\n\nPrintmakers from around the world are invited to join Castlemaine Press in the 7th year of their International Print Exchange. \n\n\n\nAn exhibition and sale of prints will be held at Castlemaine Press\, Lot19 on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October 2024.  \n\n\n\nThis will coincide with the wonderful lot19 Spring Sculpture Prize. There will also be an online exhibition of all received prints on the Castlemaine Press website. \n\n\n\nAll works (two prints from each artist) will be exhibited on the exhibition weekend\, and be available for purchase for AUD$65 each. \n\n\n\nProceeds will support Castlemaine Press\, a volunteer organisation run by local artists. This is our main fundraiser for the year and allows Castlemaine Press to remain as a well-equipped open-access print studio for the surrounding community. \n\n\n\n10% of the proceeds raised will be donated to the ASRC (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre). \n\n\n\nSaturday 12 & Sunday 13 October\, 11am-4pm. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nImage credit: 2023 IMBY entry – Robyn Gibson\, ‘Walking Lines – Djaara Country’\, 2023

DESCRIPTION:The annual lot19 Spring Sculpture Prize returns in October\, and as is tradition\, we are throwing an opening celebration. \n\n\n\nThe 2024 lot19 Spring Sculpture Prize opening party will take place on Saturday 12 October from 2pm\, and will feature prize-giving\, live music\, the lot19 bar by Shedshaker Brewing\, and food from Castlemaine Fringe.  \n\n\n\nAnd of course – ART! \n\n\n\nSince its inception in 2006\, The Spring Sculpture Prize has been a keyevent in the Central Victorian artistic calendar. Featuring over $8\,000worth of prizes\, independent judges and three-week exhibition\, the prizeis beloved by artists & visitors alike. In 2024\, we’re also honoured toannounce the Chloe Gunn Prize for emerging artists. \n\n\n\nJudges for the 2024 prize are Jock Clutterbuck\, Laura Woodward andSimone Ewenson. Previous judges include Naomi Cass (Castlemaine ArtMuseum)\, visual artists Lucas Maddock and Zoe Amor and more. \n\n\n\nEntries for the 2024 Prize close on Wednesday 18 September. SUMMARY:Spring Sculpture Prize: Youth Workshop with Jodie Goldring
DESCRIPTION:Make a Basket using recycled materials! \n\n\n\nUse recycled materials such as wool and cardboard boxes to make a colourful basket. \n\n\n\nHumans have been making baskets for thousands of years to hold and carry food and other objects. They look beautiful and are fun to make\, so come along and learn a new skill!  There are many ways to make baskets\, and in this workshop\, you will learn a basic stake and strand weaving technique.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop\, run by artist and teacher Jodie Goldring\, will be held in the unique surrounds of the lot19 W-Class Melbourne Tram\, as part of the 2024 Spring Sculpture Prize.  \n\n\n\nRecommended for ages 8-12 and limited to 12 participants. \n\n\n\nJodie Goldring is a Sculptor and Art Teacher who has a broad range of creative experiences to share. SUMMARY:Bonsoy Wallet Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Free Workshop \n\n\n\nIn 2024\, we’re lot19 was honoured to announce the newly created Chloe Gunn Memorial Prize. This is a new prize in memory of the bright spark that Chloe was\, for sculptures and art works made entirely from recycled materials. The inaugural Chloe Gunn Memorial Prize was awarded by Chloe’s father\, Trevor Scott\, to Taron Stanley for his work A Meeting of Minds…\, with an honourable mention going to Melissa Clark for her work 24/02/2022. \n\n\n\nChloe Scott Gunn was born in Castlemaine and completed a course in Theatre Studies at Griffith University QLD. She loved to make things  from discarded rubbish and\, in the latter years of her life\, held workshops where she taught people how to make wallets from Bonsoy cartons. An emerging artist herself\, she was only thirty when she died suddenly in 2021. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday 26 October\, lot19 will host a free Bonsoy Wallet Workshop\, with Chole’s family and friends. We would love to see you there.  \n\n\n\nAll materials supplied.
