Dec 15th 2024 @ 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Gathering of the First Nations Solidarity Network – Liyanganyuk Banyul
Sunday 15 December, 4-8pm
First Nations Solidarity Network Liyanganyuk Banyul Gathering
Earlier this year the First Nations Solidarity Network Liyanganyuk Banyul formed as a response to the referendum results, and the direct ask from First Nations people for more action from non-Indigenous people to actively learn about and challenge structural and personal racism, including our own. So far it has been an informal and growing Whatsapp community to share resources, events, inspiration and accountability, and to make visible and link the many existing groups and individuals already working in First Nations solidarity in the Liyanganyuk Banyul (Mount Alexander Shire and surrounds) area.
4-6pm – discussions and shared learning
– Acknowledgement of Country
– A brief introduction to the network and its intent
– Community notice board – what’s going on across the network?
– Conversations in breakout groups.
6-8pm – Social gathering to get to know each other. Dinner and a fire.
– Bring some food to share and all you need (plates, cutlery, cup)
– Outdoors so dress appropriately
Children are of course welcome.
